JANASAT

IN-ORBIT VALIDATION CAPABILITY
FOR SPACE DOMAIN AWARENESS TECHNOLOGIES

Nurjana_Janasat

JANASAT is a technology demonstrator mission designed to provide operationally relevant orbital data for the validation of Space Surveillance and Tracking (SST) and Space Domain Awareness (SDA) technologies.

The mission bridges the gap between simulation-based development and real-world operations, supporting evidence-based risk reduction ahead of capability adoption in defence and security contexts.

OPERATIONAL RELEVANCE

JANASAT-1 directly addresses NATO’s growing need for validated, in-orbit data to assess emerging SDA technologies in congested and contested space environments.

By generating real operational datasets, the mission enables stakeholders to:

  • evaluate sensing and processing performance under real orbital conditions;

  • reduce technical and operational risks ahead of capability adoption decisions;

  • accelerate the transition from experimental concepts to deployable capabilities.

MISSION ARCHITECTURE

  • 3U Cubesat Platform

  • Low Earth Orbit (LEO)

  • Attitude Determination and Control System (ADCS)

  • Dual-band communications

  • S-band / UHF links

Compact LEO technology demonstrator platform designed for reliable optical sensing and rapid experimentation cycles.
